class party - week 9
We had a wonderful celebration today. Thank you for all the lovely food that we enjoyed for lunch. The children had an awesome afternoon.
Pen pal christmas cards & Play - WEEK 8
The children made Christmas cards for their pen pals. On Monday Ms Goble's Year 1 class came to visit us, so that we could give them their card. We had lunch and a play on our playground with them. It was a lot of fun.
our magical CHRISTMAS assembly - week 6
We are so very proud of the amazing performance our children gave at our magical Christmas Assembly. The children should take great pride in their wonderful assembly. It was fantastic to see so many parents and family members in attendance. Thank you for all your support of your children learning their spoken parts and the songs and actions.
SWIMMING LESSONS - WEEK 6
The children have been enjoying their swimming lessons at the STARplex pool.
maths - early division and multiplication - week 5
In Mathematics, the children have been learning about early division and multiplication. We are learning to divide numbers into groups of equal amounts. The class had fun doing this with plates and counters and were very excited to realise their capabilities.
Poppies for remembrance day - week 4
Today the children placed a poppy they had made at the front of the school. We remember and paid tribute to those who have lost their lives at war.
blackham excursion - Wednesday - week 4
The children had an amazing excursion to Blackham yesterday. The weather was perfect! We enjoyed learning about the natural environment and the history of the land. The children participated in cubby building, a bush walk, exploring a mine shaft, nature colour matching cards and a tug-o-war match. Thank you to all the wonderful parents who came with us, the children and I loved having you share our exciting nature excursion.
meeting our North school pen pals - week 4
On Monday at lunch time, the students met their pen pal from Ms Goble's Year 1 class at Trinity North School. The students received their reply letter from their pen pal and ate lunch together whilst getting to know each other.

Grandparent's day - week 3
Grandparent's Day was a wonderful celebration of the relationship the children's grandparent's and older friends play in their lives. The children performed "If I were a Butterfly" at the concert. We shared some craft activities with our grandparents and took them for tours around the school.

Australian symphony orchestra - week 1
The Australian Symphony Orchestra visited on Tuesday and delighted the Early Years students with beautiful music. The children loved being involved.
Term 3
Farm visit - week 10
We made the most of the beautiful Spring weather today and visited the farm. We saw the chooks and patted the goats.
science experiments with mr tom stone - week 6
We visited the Middle School Science Lab and conducted Science experiments based on Sound. Mr Stone was very funny and interesting. The children enjoyed using "bush telephones" to talk to each other.
father's day stall - week 6
The class have loved making special gifts, poems and cards for their Dad's and Grandfather's this week. We liked shopping at the Father's Day Stall.
teddy bear's picnic - week 6
Our Teddy Bear's Picnic was enjoyed on a magnificent day. The sun shone and we were able to have a Recess and Lunch time picnic. We decorated teddy bear biscuits, wrote teddy bear stories, visited the Library with our teddies and played and learned with them throughout the day. Thank you to the parents who loaned us picnic rugs and sent some delicious surprise treats to share.
book week - costume parade - week 5
The children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters for our annual Book Week Costume Parade. It was so much fun!

Today our buddy class visited us, Mrs Cunningham's Year 6 class. We read stories together and then designed new book covers. We think they look pretty cool!
Life education van visit - friendships - week 4
On Tuesday, we visited the Life Education Van. The children met Harold the Giraffe and he taught us about being a good friend and what friendship is. The children really enjoyed this wonderful social learning opportunity. They each received a sticker and a work book, that we're completing in class.

We have continued focusing on capacity. We worked with Mrs Philp's Year 4 class, exploring how much capacity different containers had
art - marble rolling - week 3
Today in Art we enjoyed rolling marbles in paint. We tipped boxes in different directions to the spread paint in interesting ways across a piece of white paper. It was lots of fun.
Mathematics - measurement - capacity - week 3
We have continued focusing on measurement this week and have explored capacity. We predicted how many cups of sand it would take to fill a variety of containers. We then went to the sandpit with Mrs Fitzgerald and 1P and worked out the exact amount required.

This week in Mathematics we have been exploring measurement and specifically length. The children worked in pairs to measure each other's length. They attached them to a paper plate face. We have displayed some in the classroom.

Gorge wildlife park excursion - week 7
Our excursion to the Gorge Wildlife Park at Cudlee Creek last Thursday was enjoyed by all who attended. The weather was perfect and the children's behaviour was excellent. We saw many different Australian animals along with some other creatures from around the world.
national reconciliation week
We have been talking about equality and fairness as part of National Reconciliation Week. The children made footprints to represent taking the next steps in equal rights for all Australians. Our poster is displayed on our classroom door. We hope you take the time to look at it with your child..
Maths - direction with bee-bots - week 5
The children had the opportunity to work with Bee-Bots today. They made a track for the Bee-Bot to follow and had to program the correct directions for the Bee-Bots to successfully navigate the paths.
Celebrating the last day of autumn - week 5
We went for a walk around the school to observe the trees that have lost their leaves in Autumn. The children collected some Autumn leaves and then did some leaf rubbing with paper and crayons. We also checked the growth of the plants in our vegetable patch and watered them.
Hot shots tennis clinic - week 5
The children had a fantastic time learning some ball skills at their first Hot Shots Tennis session this morning. The sunshine made us all feel great!
maths - location & direction - week 5
In Maths the children have been learning about Direction & Location. We worked together with Mrs Penna's class and gave each other directions to get to a different location. We used words such as, go forwards, turn left, turn right, next to, over, under, go backwards, etc. We had a lot of fun learning in the sunshine.
spelling activities - week 4
The children have the opportunity to practise their spelling words throughout the week. Here is an example of some of the fun ways that children can practise their spelling - chalk writing, magnetic letters and play-dough letters.
National Simultaneous Story-time - the cow tripped over the moon - week 4
We took part in the National Simultaneous Story time that occurred around Australia on the 24th May 2017. We watched and listened to the Auslan version of the story, it was very interesting and we liked the story. The message in the story was to keep trying, to persist, even when things are hard, just like the cow when she tried to jump over the moon.
Maths - fractions - week 3
During our Maths lessons, we have continued to focus our learning on fractions. We explored how we could divide items into equal groups/parts. We had fun!
Mother's day craft - week 2
In our Art lesson the children made Mother's Day cards and gifts for their Mums. We made a tulip in a flower pot to give to our Mums. We hope they loved them!
literacy - spelling - initial blend - week 2
During our spelling lesson the children learnt about initial blends in words. Each child made an "initial blend sounds wheel' and then spent time creating different words. The children recorded their words on their mini white boards. They were very proud of the new words they made themselves.
Mathematics - making fractions - week 2
In Mathematics the children have been learning about fractions. We have learnt about halves 1/2 and quarters 1/4. We buttered and then spread jam onto pieces of bread and then cut them in half (2 equal parts). Some children wanted to cut their bread into quarters (4 equal parts).

Harmony day - Tuesday 21st march
We recognised and celebrated Harmony Day by reading Todd Parr's (our author study) book 'It's Okay to Be Different". We discussed the book and it's meaning and talked about Harmony Day. The children then worked with another child or small group to think and design a new page for our own 'It's Definitely Okay to be Different" class picture story book.
sports day - week 7
The children had a wonderful time participating in a variety of events. The weather was very kind to us and Mrs Cockerill and I were very proud of the children and their level of participation and their behaviour on the day.
Swimming week - week 6
The children had a fantastic time practising their swimming skills and having fun at Starplex swimming pool last week.
Shrove Tuesday - pancake day
We learnt about Shrove Tuesday and the significance it holds in the Christian Calendar. The children enjoyed pancakes with their choice of toppings.

The children have the opportunity to practise their spelling words throughout the week. Here is an example of one of the fun ways that children can practise their spelling - playdough letters.
Mathematics 2D HUNT - Week 4
We went on a 2D Shape Hunt around our school. The children were asked to look for 2D shapes and record them on their mini whiteboards. We are learning about the names of 2D shapes, their attributes, eg. how many sides, how many corners? The children did a great job!
we visited the farm for science
We visited the farm in our Science lesson today, 13-2-17. We were looking for Living and Non-Living things as part of our focus on Biological Sciences. The children decided that goats, sheep, alpacas and fruit trees were all living things. The tractor and fences were non-living things.
creative and constructive play
The children have had the opportunity to engage in creative and constructive play regularly. It has been wonderful to observe their peer relationships grow and some new friendships emerge. Imaginative play allows children to develop their social and emotional skills whilst problem solving, communicating and co-operating with others.
